Under His Wings

by Janis Desjardins

Father’s Day and what better way to celebrate it than to acknowledge our Heavenly Father who has been with us for all time. He is omnipresent. In this day, we are so blessed as He has given us Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit, the Three in One.

Psalm 91:4 “He shall cover you with His feathers, And under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.”

Years ago, my Father in Heaven gave me a vision, a vision that I hold very close to my heart. I was a child sitting cross-legged high upon a rock looking out onto lush valleys. When I looked up, I could see my shelter was the underside of massive white feathers. My shelter was huge, so huge I could not see end to end! It was never-ending. I felt warmth emanating all around me. I was cozy and safe. This was home, the place I longed for. Colors were vibrant and my vantage point was awesome. God’s creativity never ceases to amaze me.

I share this vision today as it is Father’s Day and so those that never had a father growing up or have painful memories can think upon these things.

Philippians 4:8 “Finally brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things.”

Remember, we never lack a father because ultimately He is the one and only Father. He loves us to seek Him, we just have to respond.

Deuteronomy 4:29 “But from there you will seek the Lord your God, and you will find Him if you seek Him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

The love of God—there is no greater. Let us abide in His love. ‘Nothing can separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus, our Lord’.

John 15:10 “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.”

Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Father’s Day, is a celebration of generations of earthly fathers but we all have the best Father ever—our Heavenly Father!
